FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
December 4, 2006

The FBI is asking for the public’s assistance in the safe return of baby Bryan Dos Santos. Dos Santos was taken by a woman on Friday, December 1, 2006 in Fort Myers and may have traveled to the South Florida area. The woman is described as follows:

Age: 28-30 years old
Race: Hispanic, possibly from Honduras
Height: 5’ 4”
Weight: Heavy set
Hair: Black straight hair that was partially in a bun.
Skin: Light complexion
Clothes: Blue jeans and a dark shirt.
Language Spoken: Spanish

She was driving a dark blue or black two-door SUV, possibly a Chevy Blazer or Ford Explorer, with peeling window tint. There was a car seat and diaper bag in the SUV.

She stated that her husband was a truck driver and that she has been in the United States for about two years.

Pictures of baby Bryan can be found at the Fort Myers Police Department website, www.fmpolice.com and the AMBER alert can be found at www.fdle.state.fl.us.

The events surrounding the disappearance are as follows:

On the afternoon of December 1, 2006, Maria Fatima Ramos Dos Santos, baby Bryan’s mother, was walking in the Ft. Myers area with Bryan and was accompanied by a friend and her baby. The woman described above pulled up beside them and asked for directions. The women agreed to take the driver to her destination. When they got to the desired neighborhood, the driver said she knew where she was and she would take them back to where she had picked them up. Back at their original location, the driver pulled out a knife. The friend escaped with her baby, but the driver took off with Santos and baby Bryan. Santos was let out of the SUV about an hour later.

The lead agency is the Fort Myers Police Department, with the assistance of FBI Tampa, FDLE, Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Cape Coral Police Department and the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office.

We are asking for the public’s assistance in returning baby Bryan safely to his family. We would also be interested in identifying pregnant women who have been approached by anyone matching the woman’s description described above and appeared overly interested in their pregnancy; or any women with newborns who may have been approached. If you have any information, you are urged to call the FBI at (305) 944-9101.
